Firstly, during a sword fight, your sword is represented by a coloured dot. the outside ring of the dot is the colour of the guards and the inside ring is the colour of the handle.
When you click on the little box next to one of the bad guys heads, your dot will appear under it.
To team, click on a box that already has a dot or 2 dots under it.
Basically, anyone who is not teaming up - their dot is the only one under a box - they are more likely to get attacked by a group of enemies. If you are a 'solo' you will get 1 or many enemies attacking you all at the same time.
Also if you 'solo' your attacks will be easier for the enemy to clear, so they will basically be using whatever attacks you throw at them to send back to one of your team mates.
When you team in a 4, the enemy is more likely to mimic your lay-out and team in a 4 against one of your team mates.
The whole purpose of a Swordfight at sea is to:
a. Survive untill the end of the battle, or for as long as you can, so your team mates can help defeat the enemy,
b. Attack the enemy in the most efficient way that guarentees team victory
In general, the best way to team in a sword fight is in a 2 or a 3.
RuMbLe!
In a rumble, it is pretty much a free-for-all on the way the enemy attacks you, the best approach is to attack as hard as you can and knock out as many of the enemy as you can manage before they do the same to you!
Unless you have a bludgeon, your dot will be a skin coloured one.
In rumble I suggest going all-in and teaming in 4's or 5's to kill as quickly as possible. This method is the most practical and is guarenteed to work unless your ship has taken heavy damage. A maxxed Barbarian ship will die pretty quickly in this way .
SO - [g]Help your team-mates, team in a 2 or 3 in sword fights and team in a 4 or 5 in rumble
